The Zoo Zürich is a zoo located in Zurich, Switzerland conveniently accessible from Zurich city center. It is open every day of the year and supports and works on national and international programs to preserve species and maintain their natural habitats. The zoo was opened in 1929, and today there are a collection of around 2,200 specimens of 300 species in this one of the best preservation centers in Europe.

Masoala Regenwald is a 11,000 m2 rainforest Hall with the largest of the nature conservation exhibitions in Zurich Zoo, presenting the living species of Madagascar. The Rainforest hall was opened in 2003 accommodating more than 50 vertebrate species. The building costs were financed with donated funds, and the volume of the shelter is 200,000 cubic meters. With the small rainforest ecosystem, the Masoala Rainforest became an actual conservation centre with the capability of offer animals and over 500 plant species. The visitors can experience animals in their natural habitat. Since 2013, the Masoala Treetop Walkway allows visitors also to wonder the treetop level.

Zoo Zurich operates a tree nursery in the Masoala Rainforest, and it produces over a hundred young trees and bushes that are pricked out in the Masoala Rainforest. Seven around 12 meters long traversing gantries, tracks, and access ladders, as well as a staircase, were ordered from Rostek for tree nursing, observation and the maintenance of the Rainforest hall roof. And of course, the animals of this mini tropics are as well more than happy to use the existing access systems on site.
