O2 ARENA PRAGUE

Arena built for Ice Hockey World Championships

O2 Arena (formerly Sazka Arena, until 2015) is one of the largest multipurpose arenas in Europe. It is home to HC Sparta Prague of the Czech Extraliga and was built for Ice Hockey World Championships in 2004. The arena is located in northeastern part of Prague, Czech Republic, and can host 19,000 spectators with floor space 35,000 m² divided to six floor levels. Arena provides parking spaces for 280 vehicles. The construction work started in 2002 and completed just in time for the World Championships. Since then the arena has hosted hundreds of smaller and big scale sport and cultural events.

The architectural design of the arena comes from ATIP Company. Rostek designed and manufactured the access system for the facades with over 600 meters of monorail tracks and a BMU2 to be used for maintenance and cleaning of the building. For round-shaped buildings, Rostek monorail is an optimal solution. Each piece of the track is designed, bend and cut according to the shape of the building. This makes the installation fast, and no waste is generated.

  • One of the basic monorail projects of Rostek. The arena opened for the public in 2004.
  • Location: Prague, Czech Republic
  • Year of completion: 2004
  • Over 600 meters of monorail track and self powered platform by Rostek
  • For round-shaped buildings Rostek monorail is an optimal solution. Each monorail individually designed makes the track actually part of the building. When painted in the same color, the track blends better with the building's facade.
