GUANGZHOU CTF

 Guangzhou CTF Finance Center, China

The Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre is a 530 meter tall skyscraper in Guangzhou, Guangdong. At the time of the completion in 2016 the building, also called East Tower, was the tallest completed building of the city and the seventh-tallest in the world. CTF Finance Centre is part of the Guangzhou Twin Towers and situated on a 27,000 m2 lot in Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou's central business district.  There are a total of 111 above ground and five below ground floors and a shopping mall, offices, apartments, and a direct connection to the underground public transportation center in the building. The Rosewood hotel opened for the public in spring 2019 occupying the top 16 floors and podium of the building.

Kohn Pedersen Fox was the principal architect of the project while The Guangzhou Design Institute and Leigh & Orange became the architects of record. A facade made of glass and self-cleaning & corrosion-resistant glazed terra cotta and metal has made the tower a model of sustainable, high-density, center-city architecture. The terracotta mullions make the exterior of the building lighter. The building designers have been taking different techniques in use to make the Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre more environmentally friendly. For example, the tower employs some energy efficient tools to reduce its environmental footprint: the modern chillers and the podium's roof covered with solar panels as a great example itself.

Arup Group engineered the building, and Rostek access solutions were chosen for the challenging maintenance of lower levels of the building as well as higher in a hotel swimming pool area. Rostek delivered nearly 300 meters of concealed monorail altogether to promote the architectural design and hide the tracks itself. Some 42 meters of the monorail is visible. The tracks provide the route for BMU1 and BMU2 cradles and nine motorized trolleys as well as a safe grip surface for 10-meter long motorized gantry. A special modular platform was also ordered to hang under the bridge. The MSP enables a wider area to be maintained when service personnel can work both from the gantry and below the gantry.

  • The project was completed in 2016. CTF Guangzhou is one of the tallest Rostek project buildings so far.
  • Location: Guangzhou, Guangdong, China
  • Year of completion: 2016
  • Nearly 300 meters of concealed monorail track, over 40 metres of monorail  and 2 self powered platforms as well as one 10 meter long MSP and a motorized gantry by Rostek
  • The Rostek aluminium tracks which are mainly concealed monorails, cover the ceiling structure as well as around the roof-top hotel swimming pool area. With Rostek MSP and traversing gantry solutions the most discreet maintenance is possible at the Finance Center.
