CWTC BEIJING

China World Trade Center Phase 3B with 700 meters of monorail and long gantries

In 2015 China World Trade Center Phase 3B became the third tallest building of China, raising 259,5 meters height. The latest addition to the Beijing World Trade Center was completed in 2017. The new tower is part of the complex of buildings with varying heights developed since the 1980s. There are shops, 68,000 square meters of office space, 554-room hotel and apartments in this mixed building, and it is located at the center of Beijing’s Central Business District.

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) was the main architect of the project and the team designed the building according to traditional Feng Shui methods. The form of the building took inspiration of geometry found in nature such as bamboo and the conch shell. For the facade the chosen high-performance glass both reduces energy use with a slight outward tilt causing the reduction of both glare and solar heat gain during the warm months.

The CWTC-project was quite a large delivery for Rostek with over 700 meters of monorail tracks, where in some cases there was possible to mount the monorail into the building ceiling or soffit to access interior and exterior facades. Also 15 manual and electric trolleys, 2 BMUs with extensions, 10 meter long motorized horizontal gantry with a tower and pivoting edges, as well as a smaller 7 meter long gantry for the hotel swimming pool area added with 10 Bosun´s Chairs for the facade maintenance team was delivered.
